Academic Information

Academic Policies

  • The first-year student is in academic probation for the year. If found unsatisfactory in the area of study, behavior, punctuality, interpersonal relationship, or spiritual life, he/she would be sent out of the College at any time before the end of the year.
  • No student will be promoted to the next year of study if he/she fails in more than three required courses in an academic year. A maximum of 120 + 3 credit hours are required for considering a student for graduation with B.Th/B.Ministry/M.Div. degree.
  • All required courses must be passed to consider the student for graduation. This may necessitate re-doing certain failed courses during or after regular years of study.
  • There will be written and oral comprehensive exams towards the end of the final year of the student. The result of this exam and a satisfactory thesis/research work will determine the student's eligibility for a degree. Degree certificates will be given only after passing the comprehensive exam and submitting the thesis. For re-taking the comprehensive exam, the student needs to contact the Academic Dean.

Attendance

  • A student has to fulfill the attendance percentage requirement for promotion to the next class or for graduation. The college requirement is 80% of the entire working days in a semester. If a student has less than 80% attendance in the class, he/she will be barred from writing the exam and asked to repeat the semester.
  • If a student misses a class without a leave letter or proper permission, he/she will be marked absent for the entire day’s class.
  • Latecomers will be marked as absent.
  • It is mandatory for every student (even the day scholars) to attend all program activities and functions. No leaves will be granted to anyone during special college activities and programs.

Course Materials and Notes

The course notes and handouts will be distributed by lecturers for their respective courses. It is mandatory for each student to have his/her own copy of the handouts given by the teacher. In addition to this, the students are also asked to have notebooks for each subject to take down class notes.

Assignments

All assignments, research papers, and theses are to be done and submitted using the proper research method format. Plagiarism of any sort is strictly prohibited, and any student caught committing such misdeed will be penalized and punished. The seminary follows Kate L. Turabian’s research methods, and it is mandatory for all to follow this format in their paperwork for the sake of uniformity and convenience.

Semester Exams

There will be a mid-term exam in the mid-semester and a final exam towards the end of each semester. Satisfactory marks and performance in these exams will determine a student’s eligibility for promotion to the next class.

Eligibility for Promotion

In order to be considered eligible for promotion to the next class, a student has to pass in all the subjects. Students who have failed in two subjects can have a retake exam, after which they can be promoted to the next class. Students failing in more than two subjects will not be promoted to the next class, nor will they be allowed to write the retake exam. He/she will have to repeat the courses of the entire semester.

Oral and Written Comprehensive Exams

The final year students (B.Th. and M.Div.) have to go through the oral and written comprehensive exams at the end of their final semester. A student has to acquire a minimum of 70% marks in order to be considered eligible for graduation.

Theses

The M.Div. final year students have to write theses on any chosen topic approved by the faculty. The completion of the theses in a satisfactory form is a mandatory requirement for any student seeking the M.Div. degree.

Retake Examination

If a student fails in any subject, he/she can have a retake exam of the failed subject by paying the retake exam fee to the concerned faculty. The students can consult the Academic Dean concerning the date and time of the retake exam to be taken.
